Bpr, July 14 2021:
Informing that the number of new positive cases is increasing as the district administration had begun mass testing exercise in Bishnupur district, Covid-19 Relief Committee Bishnupur district convener N Joykumar has stressed the need for increasing number of Community Home Isolation Centres (CHICs) and Covid Care Centres (CCCs) in the district.
A mass vaccination programme jointly conducted by Youth Welfare Organisation, Covid-19 Task Force, Covid-19 Relief Committee Bishnupur district, Bishnupur Municipal Council Covid-19 Task Force under the aegis of CMO Bishnupur and Mumbai based NGO Doctors for You was held at Ibudhou Mayangamba community hall for residents of Bishnupur Ward No 5 and 6 on Wednesday.
Interacting with the media on the occasion, Joykumar said that Bishnupur district hospital is facing shortage of doctors and nurses.
Besides, non-Covid patients are facing difficulties in getting healthcare services since the district hospital is facilitating treatment and care to Covid patients.
As such, the authority needs to arrange a CCC facility separate from the district hospital.
He also urged the authority to take up effective containment measures so that those in the containment zones do not get mingled with others.
Regarding the vaccination programme, he said that the programme was organised after getting confirmation from the district health authority.
However, it got delayed as the vaccines arrived late, he said while urging the authority to ensure timely despatch of healthcare personnel and vaccines at vaccination sites in future.
