Education Minister assures upgradation of lone Sanskrit institute

Imphal, December 20 2012:
Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro assured that the lone Sanskrit institute in the state, Sanatan Sanskrit Vidyalaya (SSV) in Senapati district's Charhajare would be upgraded to the level of a higher secondary school from the next academic session.
Inaugurating the 3-day long 'residential Sanskrit Mahotsava' organized by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (Deemed University) under Ministry of HRD, Government of India at SSV on Thursday as Chief Guest, Okendro said that Sanskrit have close connection with Hindu religion.
Considering the importance of the language to the followers of Hinduism, the state government would upgrade SSV, which has presently upto class VIII only and provide necessary grant-in-aid from the next budget.
Okendro further assured that he would urge Chief Minister, O Ibobi and other concerned authorities to include Sanskrit in the list of Major Indian Language (MIL) .

Prof.Radhaballav Tripathi, Chancellor, Rastriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi; Dr Ratna Mohan Jha, National Co-ordinator, NFSE., Rastriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Delhi; Chamu Krishna Shastri, Sanskrit Bharati, New Delhi; Prof.Bempatti Kutumba Shastri, Chancellor, Somnath Sanskrit University, Gujarat; Prof.hari Adhikari, Banaras Hindu University and Padmashree R K Jhaljit Singh would be the resource persons of the 3-day long Sanskrit Mahotsava to be attended by around 300 delegates from different parts of the country.
