Imphal, December 20 2012:
The Indira Gandhi National Tribal University students Union (IGNTUSU), Regional Campus, Manipur has strongly condemned the university authority headquarter for the alleged non-compliance to the basic needs and demands forwarded through the regional director.
In spite of repeated proposals forwarded by the students, the university authority has not responded to the legitimate rights raised by the students of the varsity, the IGNTUSU alleged.
The students' union of the varsity had, in fact served an ultimatum as well as a reminder to the earlier ultimatum stating that if the basic needs demanded by the students was not taken into consideration and act immediately to the grievances and difficulties faced b y the students' community of the varsity, the students will resort to any form of agitation and also stated that the university authority would be solely responsible for any untoward incident in the course of agitation.
"But to the grief of the students, the university authority had failed to comply unfortunately till date.
The students of the varsity are to launch any form of agitation from December 20 indefinitely and the university authority should solely be responsible for any untoward incident during the course of agitation.
The Vice-Chancellor should immediately be removed for his incompetency and his inaptitude towards the administration of Regional Campus.
The students also demand the Central government to give a separate Hill University for the tribals in the interior of any five hill districts of Manipur instead of Regional Campus which is not serving the purpose, though it was passed by an Act of Indian Parliament, 2007," the IGNTUSU said.
