A three-day Samskrita Mahotsava organised by Sanatan Sanskrit Vidyalaya commenced from today at its Charhajare premise with Education Minister M Okendro gracing the inauguration programme as the chief guest.
The Vidyalaya's front wall was also inaugurated by the chief guest.
The seminar is being organised under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development's Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (deemed university) .
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Okendro exuded confidence that outcome of the three-day event would be able to revive and promote the ancient Indian script.
Informing that efforts are on for further development of the Sanskrit School being run at DM College campus, he pledged all possible assistance from the side of the Government in the Vidyalaya's endeavour to promote Sanskrit in the hill areas.
Similar initiatives are being taken up to upgrade Sanatan Sanskrit Vidyalaya to a secondary level institution along with grant-in-aid provision by the Government, added the Minister.
As the guest of honour, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip drew the Education Minister's attention on the need to establish a Sanskrit university at Charhajare for sustaining momentum of the Vidyalaya to revive and promote the ancient Indian script.
