Congress legislators of the state Assembly today gathered at the Chief Minister�s secretariat to attend a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party convened by the Chief Minister, O Ibobi.
The meeting prominently discussed the prevailing law and order situation in the state.
The meeting, which most of the Congress legislators attended, discussed the prevailing law and order situation in the wake of detection of IED materials in a car which was left parked at the parking area on the campus of the Raj Bhavan here yesterday.
The CLP meeting also discussed improving the Public Distribution System (PDS) in consideration of the drought situation, sources said.
It is also learnt that the meeting deliberated on the ongoing agitation spearheaded by the Apunba Lup.
Sources said, MLAs and ministers gave suggestions to the Chief Minister to change the security personnel detailed at the Raj Bhavan frequently for effective checking of the visitors.
They also suggested for improvement of intelligence network and instruct the officers in intelligence service to remain alert all the time and verify the pre-paid mobile subscribers.
The issue of ongoing agitation of the Apunba Lup which has been continuing for the last one and half month since August 2 was also discussed, the sources said.
While discussing the relationship between the MLAs and the Ministers of the party, the MLAs urged the Chief Minister to give firm instructions to the Ministers to consult with the circle MLAs first before taking up any developmental work in their respective Assembly constituencies.
Chief Minister Ibobi also asked the Ministers not to take up any work which might hurt the sentiments of the MLAs, and suggested that both Ministers and MLAs work collectively to protect the Congress party�s future prospects.
The CLP meeting also discussed ways to improve the PDS system as the state is likely to face food scarcity owing to drought condition in the state.
The MLAs insisted the Chief Minister on instructing the Ministers concerned to improve the service of the PDS so that the commodities may reach the people in time.
