In a swift action, Dimapur police managed to nab the robbers and also recovered the robbed amount of Rs.5 lakhs from their possession within 24 hours of the incident.
The arrested include the main culprit, Kalu Yadav and four elderly women identified as Suma Devi, Laichi Devi, Sarina Devi and Jemti Devi while two accused are still absconding.
All the accused are related and are residents of Siliguri in West Bengal.
The arrests were made under the supervision of SDPO Dimapur, SDPO Niuland and DSP Special Branch.
The 4 elderly women were arrested for criminal conspiracy in aiding the accused in hiding the robbed money.
The Rs 5 lakhs were found concealed in their bodies.
Mention may be made here that the accused persons had snatched an amount of Rest.
5 lakhs from a local businessman, Hokiye Achumi inside the Bank of Baroda in Dimapur on Thursday.
Police sources said the victim, a businessman was in the process of depositing Rs 5 lakhs in the Bank of Baroda when the main accused, Kalu Yadav, told him that some money (Rs 10 notes) are lying near his feet.
When he went bend down to pick the money, the accused fled with the Rs 5 lakhs from the deposit counter.
The victim also gave a chase but failed, police informed.
