Imphal, May 28 2015 :
Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar has stated that construction of the new Sanjenthong bridge would be completed by next month.
In view of the key connectivity it provides between Imphal East and Imphal West districts, the State Government has been working to complete the bridge construction work by the end of next month.
Speaking to some media persons today, Ratankumar informed that installation of hangers which are key components of the bridge would be completed in the next five/six days.
Installation of bracing frames has been completed.
The bridge would have six K-type bracings on either side and installation of these bracings has been completed for one side.
Installation of bracings is going rather slow because these U-shaped bracings are too slippery when there is rainfall and they are virtually burning when there is sunshine.
So labourers have a hard time handling them, Ratankumar said.
The department has also been planning to repair the approach roads so that they can be completed simultaneously with the bridge.
Beautification work of the bridge would be initiated shortly.
Later in the evening, the Works Minister inspected the expansion work of Tiddim Road.
