Assam Rifles seizes contraband

Imphal, February 10 2021:
Tengnoupal Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South), recovered contraband near Khongkhang in Tengnoupal district yesterday.
Troops of Assam Rifles during a search operation intercepted suspicious movement on NH-102 and a thorough search of the thick forest area near Khongkhang was conducted in which the troops recovered 50 cases of brown sugar weighing 649 grams, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
The assessed market value of the recovered contraband is worth Rs 1.29 crore and has been handed over to Tengnoupal Police Station for further investigation, added the statement.
In another instance, troops of Assam Rifles recovered narcotics (Opium) from Bualkot area of Churachandpur district yesterday.
Assam Rifles got specific information regarding a hidden cache of contraband in the nearby jungle area of Bualkot and the troops of AR launched a search of the area and recovered 22kg of Opium which was assessed to be worth Rs 13 lakh, added the statement.
The recovered narcotics were handed over to the Singnat Police Station for further investigation, added the statement.
