JCB launches dealership in state

Ma & Ma Mercantile Private Limited opened a dealership of the British multinational equipment manufacturer JCB at Malom Tuliyaima Mayai Leikai, here, on Friday.
Works minister Govindas Konthoujam, transport minister Khashim Vashum, Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti and Loktak Development Authority chairman M Asnikumar attended the inauguration cum customers' meet as members of the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Govindas expressed confidence that the dealership will cater to the heavy machinery demand of the state to a great extent with its spare parts and servicing facilities.
Taking advantage of the event, the minister recalled about the Rs 14,999 crore road projects in the state announced last year by union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari.
He also informed about the Rs 100 crore Imphal Ring Road project funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) as well as Rigid Pavement Concrete Road projects for important roads in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas with Rs 390 crore fund ing from Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The minister revealed that the state government under the leadership of chief minister N Biren is planning to float tender for these projects by the end of March this year.
Such projects would require heavy machineries and the facilities for spare parts and servicing available in the dealership will facilitate speedy progress of these projects, he said, while mentioning about hardships faced by construction companies and heavy machinery owners in time of repairing and servicing their machineries.
Later, a customers' meet was held at Sangai Hall of Hotel Imphal.
LDA chairman M Asnikumar, Ma & Ma Mercantile Private Limited director Philem Dorendro and JCB India Limited business head (northeast) Saravanan D attended the meet as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Different models of JCB excavators were displayed during the meet.
Dorendro also announced that the dealership is offering a free gift of 5 grams of gold for machinery booking made on the opening day.
