Imphal, October 01 2013:
Council of Tribal Languages and Literature Societies, Manipur (CTLLSM) has urged the State Government to propose fund to the 14th Finance Commission for promotion of tribal mother tongues education in the State.
Submitting memoranda in this regard to the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, the Education Minister, the Chief Secretary and the Additional Chief Secretary (Finance & Planning) of the State Government as well as endorsing the copies of the same to all Ministers and tribal MLAs, Chairman of CTLLSM Ragongning Gangmei observed that the proposal is extremely important as there is no fund for tribal languages in the State's budgets of Education Department, Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur.
The State budgets of Manipur divided the people because of their languages and that is the reason why some sections of the deprived people are oppose to the approach for integrity of Manipur.
But the CTLLSM's proposal is for the integrity of Manipur, because the indigenous languages of the State are the mosaic of Manipur's integrity.
Therefore, it is vital to give State's fund support and patronage to the indigenous languages to promote mother tongue education in Manipur.
This will promote a sense of common belongingness to the State and help to usher in a new social order in Manipur where there will be stability, mutual understanding, peaceful co-existence and mutual concern and support for each other among all communities.
Then, there shall be no more demand for alternative arrangement and separate homeland, Ragongning Gangmei observed.
