NAMEI floated with a mission

Imphal, October 01 2013:
With the stated aims and objectives of promoting unity, co-operation and emotional integration among the Manipuris living in different parts of the northeast region, a new social organisation called Manipuri Association, North East India (MANEI) has been formed.
MANEI was formally launched during a function at Hotel Nakshatra, Beltola, Guwahati on September 29, 2013 .
Other laid down aims and objectives of the newly formed organisation include to protect the economic and the political rights of Manipuri people; to uphold and preserve the Manipuri culture, heritage and custom; to protect the identity of the Manipuri as a community; and to promote fraternity and brotherhood amongst the Manipuri people and other communities through promotion of basic human principles of peaceful co-existence.
Various social and student organizations from Manipur and other northeastern states reportedly attended during the function.
Some of the noted personalities who attended the meeting include Olympian Thoiba Singh, social activist R K Ranendrajit, retired Manipur University professor Muhindro Singh, cultural activist Nabachandra Singh, Isro scientist Omprakash Singh, singer Naba Sharma, social workers Dhon Singh and Thokchom Rajendro.
