Imphal, October 01 2013:
The Council of Tribal Languages and Literature Societies, Manipur (CTLLSM) has urged the Government to introduce/propose fund for the promotion of tribal mother tongues education in the State in the 14th Finance Commission.
The CTLLSM has submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Chief Minister, Dy CM, Education Minister, Chief Secretary and Additional CS (Finance and Planning) .
The proposal assumes significance as there is no fund for tribal languages promotion in the State budget of the Education dept, BSEM and COHSEM, a statement issued by the chairman of CTLLSM, Ragoning Gangmei said.
"This will promote a sense of common belongingness to the State and help to usher in a new social orderstability, mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence and mutual concern and support for each other among all communities in the State.
Then, we hope, there shall be no more demand for alternative arrangement and no demand for separate homeland," it said.
