Kongkan attack flayed

The Tangkhul apex body Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) Kongkan Village Authority have condemned the bomb attack on security post at Kongkan by a militant group on Sept 28 .
The attack on 44 AR post at Kongkan was intentionally launched to create trouble and apprehension to the innocent civilians of the area, the TNL said today.
The TNL also accused the O Ibobi led Govt of sponsoring terrorism to the Naga's land/ areas where the area is covered with ceasefire.
The TNL also expressed angst over the alleged Govt attitude of negligence in taking any appropriate action to curb or check the activities of UGs operating of in the area.
Recalling the Dec 28, 2012 incident wherein two innocent civilians of Kongkan village were killed by valley based UG, the TNL urged all concerned to stop triggering incidents that could create panic and disturb the peace in the area.
Ex-gratia for the two deceased civilians who were killed last December has not been paid till date, the TNL pointed out while strongly decrying the alleged step motherly treatment of Ibobi to the hill people.
The TNL further stated that it has no faith in the Ibobi led SPF Government while urging the Centre to dissolve the present Government.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by Kongkan VA said that though the attack might be targeted at the AR Post, the attack has caused ripple effect on Kongkan villagers.
Pointing out that several attacks have been carried out in the area including killing of innocent villagers on Dec 28 last year, attack on AR post on April 14, 2009, attack on CRPF convoy during the election of 2007, the VA urged all concerned to refrain from launching such attacks in future.
The VA also clarified that Kongkan village falls within Chassad PS and not as reported on Sept 29 edition of this paper.
