Imphal, January 23 2022:
The Tousem Area Students' Organisation (TASO) on Sunday reiterated its stand that not an inch of land which belongs to Tousem sub-division will be compromised and said "whatever our forefathers has inherited since time immemorial belong to us" .
A release by TASO media cell has condemned the bandh called by Ngamkhei Kanba Lup Jiribam on Saturday on NH 37 accusing Muktokhal Leisangphai village of Tousem sub-division for allegedly blocking the construction of bridge in Moktokkhong.
It said that such illegal activities disturb the peaceful coexistence between the two districts.
The students' body called upon the state government to solve the intrusion into Tousem sub divisional land by 'some malicious individuals of Jiribam'.
"No outside forces, including organisations and individuals shall not threaten the village authority which falls under Tousem jurisdiction.
The Tousem Sub-Division will be in unison to defend our rights and protect any policies that will detriment the land and the people," said the release.
It also warned that henceforth, disturbances created in Tamenglong district and its sub divisional jurisdiction by any outsiders, organisations and individuals will not be tolerated and will not be responsible by its people if any untoward incidents occurred.
"For any developmental activities undertaken within the jurisdiction of Tamenglong district, government or private agency must take prior consent from the village authority," it added.
