Ukhrul, January 23 2022:
Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) of the Government of People's Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) has called for a free, fair and violence-free conduct of the forthcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly Election in its jurisdiction, while issuing stern warning against violators.
A press communiqu issued by the Central Administrative Office (CAO) said that WTR of the NSCN/GPRN circulated the information in connection with the upcoming polls to sensitise all the stakeholders involved that strict actions would be taken against those violating the election code of conduct by illegal distribution of money to voters and abetting violence to disrupt the decorum of a peaceful election process scheduled for February 27 and March 3 respectively.
It lamented: "The ideals for many have turned out to be an irony of a typical reality in the land that once raised thousands of noble citizens", while adding that in cognisance of the thriving talents and the common wealth, the party would leave no stone unturned in monitoring the situation to ensure a peaceful and unbiased election.
According to WTR, elections in Manipur have become more of a double standard game in aiding unethical election malpractices to dilute the sanctity of an election process.
"Remember if the power of greed defines the life opportunities and wealth distribution in a society, then the very community that constitutes such governance is no less than a felony in itself and without a doubt, we have failed to ask ourselves whether the deeds we do today will typify the youth and strength of the millennial", it said.
