Imphal, April 30 2014 :
Based on the complaints lodged by CPI and BJP alleging involvement of Congress party workers in electoral malpractices the Election Commission of India (ECI) has reportedly directed the CEO Manipur to file a detailed report on the matter within three days.
The CEO has also been asked to do the needful regarding the complaints.
It is said that CPI and BJP have complained to the ECI about booth capturing by Congress workers during the April 17 election for the inner Manipur PC.
According to an informed source, the ECI directive to the CEO referred to complaints about Congress nominee and sitting MP in the Inner seat Dr Th Meinya directing voters at 17/7 polling station in Khonghampat and allegations that Congress workers captured booths in some of the polling stations in Thoubal AC, which Chief Minister O Ibobi represents.
In these polling stations voting percentage was recorded in between 90-98 .
The ECI instruction include posers to the CEO whether or not the voting process in the said polling stations were video recorded, micro observer deputed and strength/composition of security arrangement, said the source.
Subsequent to the ECI directive the CEO has reportedly intimated returning officers concerned to file their respective report by tomorrow, maintained the source while confiding that a separate report from the Inner MPC observer has also been sought by the ECI.
It may be mentioned that counting for both Outer and Inner MPCs would be carried out on May 16 .
