Hundreds of students and people from all walks of life turned up for the 36th Hunger Marchers� Day organize by AMSU today.
August 27 is observed every year as Hunger Marchers� Day in memory of the four who were killed in an uprising against the artificial scarcity of food grains on August 27, 1965.The four are Naba kumar, Chaobal, Nilamani and Pramodini.
Floral tributes were paid at Pishum Chinga memorial site and a massive procession was taken out.
A public meeting was later held at Khuman Lampak.
The first president of AMSU, Gambhir hoisted the flag of the student body at the memorial site; AMSU leaders led the others in paying floral tributes at eh memorial site.

The procession wound its way through Moirangkhom, Keishamthong and Keishampat.
When the procession tried to make its way through Paona Bazar, police stopped them.
The stand off was finally resolved after the DC and SP of Imphal West came to the spot.
The procession then made its way through Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar.
The procession finally converged at Khuman Lampak after snaking though, Khoyathong and North AOC.
As the procession passed by Kekrupat all the participants observed pin drop silence as a mark of respect to the 18 martyrs who laid down their lives in the anti ceasefire agitation.
AMSU president O Shyamchand presided over the meeting while a host of former AMSU office bearers and other shred the dais.
A two minute silence was observed to pay respect to the four persons killed 36 years back.
Speakers at the meeting expressed fear that another Hungers� Marchers Day may be necessitated following the economic blockade on the highways.
They appealed for the lifting of the blockade.
Shyamchand said the student body will take upon itself to provide free education to the economically weak students from class I till X.He appealed to clubs and organization to inform AMSU about any needy students.
The blood donated today would also be given to the poor and needy patients.
Shyamchand appealed to all schools and colleges to declare a half holiday tomorrow in connection with the foundation day celebration of the student body tomorrow.
