At least five out of the seventeen seriously injured persons brought to the JN Hospital were among the 13 who died right after the riot yesterday, which rocked the state capital in an unprecedented manner.
Among the unfortunate survivors is Sobita Devi of New Checkon, whose leg had to be amputated after a bullet fired by CRPF personnel during yesterday�s riot, smashed a major part of the shin bone.
Sobita said the news of the amputation of her leg has not reached her family.
Members of various voluntary organizations near the hospital including the Eastern Students� Club, Nongmeibung, SAYC, Soibam Leikai, UYLA Porompat, Khurai Polo Club, North Eastern Sporting Union Khurai Thangjam Leikai, KSDO Khurai Kongpal, AAA Kongpal, JWO Imphal East, YOSC Khurai, Citizen�s Club, Soibam Leikai, NMC Kongpal Sajor Leikai, AMHO and other clubs of Kwakeithel, Kongba Leishram Leikai are doing a yeomen�s service in providing service to the injured now admitted at the hospital.

Over 28 volunteers including a girl have donated blood to the victims of the CRPF firing yesterday.
The volunteers have arranged credit for costly medicines at the local pharmacies and donations have reached Rs.6750.The volunteers are certain that the donations will increase many fold after the curfew is lifted.
