BRO will construct Maram-Peren road : Ngajokpa

Manipur Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Francis Ngajokpa today met senior officials of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways at Transport Bhawan, Parliament Street here to follow up his earlier request for handing over the construction work of Maram- Peren Road to Border Road Organization (BRO) .
The officials of the Ministry informed during the discussion that the Ministry's notification No SO 2834 (F) dated 07-11-2014 to withdraw BRO from Maram-Peren Road, at present declared NH-129A, was reviewed and it was decided to hand over the construction of Maram-Peren Road of Manipur Sector to BRO again.
In addition, it was also decided to entrust the construction of Peren-Dimapur road in Nagaland sector to the BRO by the Ministry.
Francis Ngajokpa also conveyed the gratitude of the people of the area to the Ministry officials for taking up a favourable decision.
He also appreciated the cooperation received from the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang for the effort.
He further asserted that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways took the decision considering the type of terrain, length of road, remoteness of the area coupled with law and order in the States.
He expressed hope that a National organization like BRO could only take up construction of such roads with quality control and completion on time.
The distance between Maram to Peren is 118.84 km and Peren to Dimapur is 64 km.
