Imphal, September 12:
One havildar of the 132nd CRPF battalion along with a militant were killed during a fierce encounter at Wangoo fifteen Kms north east of Sugnu PS last night at around 8, said sources.
The deceased havildar has been identified as one Satyabir Singh (40) of Haryana.
Satyabir's body was handed over to the authorities concerned after post mortem at RIMS today.
The body of the unidentified militant has been deposited at RIMS.
A pistol was recovered from the slain militant.
Meanwhile one person was killed while 30 others sustained injuries in separate road related mishaps during the past 24-hours in the State.
One person was killed while two others sustained injuries when a Tata truck met with an accident at Kha-Potsangbam, 3 kms south of Bishnupur Police Station at around 2 pm today.
The deceased is identified as Mayanglambam Sarat (35) of Bishnupur Ward no 3.The two injured persons, whose identities could not ascertained till the time of filing this report, have been referred to RIMS Hospital here from Bishnupur District Hospital.
In another road mishap, 27 passengers of a bus sustained injuries when it slipped and fell into a gorge near Tadubi under Tadubi Police Station in Senapati district at around 3 pm yesterday.
The condition of five of them is reported to be serious.
Some of the injured passengers have been taken to Nagaland while others have been brought to Imphal for treatment.
