While denouncing the alleged attempt of the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil to sideline the issue of the growing demand to revoke the Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur, Film Forum Manipur has announced that it would continue to contribute its mite to the ongoing agitation.
After the Forum extended, their solidarity to the agitation by staging protest rally, donation of blood and extension of financial assistance towards the cause, the Forum will continue to wear black badges in all the film related functions and present slide shows to highlight the cause of the people in all the cinema halls, Forum convenor RK Chandrakumar informed in a statement to the press today.
Meanwhile, extending support to the ongoing class boycott stir of the students demanding removal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur completely, student union of DM College of Teacher Education has announced boycott of all the classes till September 16.The student body also strongly condemned the ruling SPF Government for not being able to maintain peaceful academic atmosphere in the State.
On the other hand, stepping up the ongoing agitation against the continued imposition of AFSPA in the State, All Manipur Students' Union Yairipok branch has called a three day strike for students only in areas falling under its jurisdiction from 6 am of 13 September to 6 pm of Sep 16.
