Patients who could not afford the charges of these medical procedures earlier can now avail the advantage as it will cost only Rs 8000 counting together operation charge, special equipment charge and anaesthesia charge, said Dr Palin.

With the procurement of laparoscopic equipment in 1996, the Minimal Access Surgery was started in SHRI.
Till date, the SHRI has successfully conducted 8000 laparoscopic surgeries of different cases, he informed.
The lower fee for the laparoscopic surgery under the project does not mean that advanced equipment will not be used, Palin clarified.
The latest equipment will be used for all the surgery under the project.
It will be the cheapest laparoscopic surgery of such kind in the entire North East region, Palin remarked while informing that the project may be extended according to the response of the public and other types of surgical operations may be also included in the project in future.
The cutting-edge technology of Minimal Access Surgery does not leave behind scars, helps regain strength within a short time and reduces pain.
A patient may walk on his own just one/two days after the operation.
