ZB Spt Zone clarifies, says 'we are mature enough to take care of our kitchen affairs'

Sadar Hills, September 25 2016: Presenting the alleged facts, figures and realities established on the mandate of Zeliangrong people for the welfare of its fold, the Zeliangrong Baudi, Senapati Zone has elucidated over the alleged doubt and confusion created by Zeliangrong Union (AMN) today.

The Baudi president, Ng Karaiba said that the Zeliangrong people of Senapati cannot be hijacked by few individuals from outside 'our jurisdiction keeping in mind that Zeliangrong is not a private property nor can they be taken for a ride' .

He said that Ng Luikang, former president, ZU Spt-zone had rightly said that the ZU Spt-Zone was same as dead for the past (14) fourteen years without proper executive and proper system of functioning and realizing that the ZU, president Senapati-zone convened a meeting on August 6 in order to revive the Zeliangrong people who are regarded as a minority in the district.

Karaiba continued that the Zeliangrong people of Senapati were caught in the tug of war between the ZU (AMN) and ZB (AMN) and in order to set things right and straight once and for all, public leaders, student leaders, social workers, village headmen/chairmen/secretaries were invited to sort out the long pending issue of the Zeliangrong people in good spirit.

He further mentioned that the president of ZU, Senapati-zone confessed before the people in the meeting that Zeliangrong Union, Senapati-zone was in existence just for name sake and without cooperation from any single Zeliangrong soul and it was a "One Man Show" and subsequently resigned at the meeting while the house accordingly accepted his resignation and fixed August 20 for election of new Executive Council wherein all public leaders, social workers, student leaders and village headman/chairman/ secretaries were invited.

However, no election could be held on the day and rather the house decided to reschedule the election date on September 12, said Ng Karaiba.

He added that the house unanimously dissolved both ZU and ZB to find a way to form a single apex body with only one nomenclature either 'Baudi' or 'Union' in the district in the presence of Hangdibe Zeme, president, ZB Senapati-zone and RP Anthony, vice-presi-dent, ZU (AMN), who is also in-charge of Senapati zone in the interest of the house.

He continued that an interim body was formed under the banner of Zeliangrong Peoples Council (ZPC) to take care of the Zeliangrong people until one nomenclature was decided within 15 days during the meeting.

Karaiba also said that a People's Convention and Election (as decided) was accordingly held on September 12 with representatives from every village and finally the house unanimously voted for 'Baudi' to be formed as the apex body of the Zeliangrong people.

Subsequently, the oath taking ceremony was held on September 16 and its executives were ministered the oath of secrecy by Raitu Chawang, president ZB (AMN) in the presence of Samson Raimei, vice-president Naga Hoho, Titus Kamei president ZYF (AMN), Shangruh president ZSU (Manipur State) .

He further said that Zeliangrong Baudi, Senapati zone which is mandated by the people and reminded all leaders of Zeliangrong Union (AMN) that "we can take care of our people in the district as Zeliangrong Baudi is the custodian of Zeliangrong people in the district and they [ZB-AMN and ZU-AMN] should not get into a tussle between them for the Zeliangrong people of Senapati have" suffered enough due to the messy affair" .

Ng Karaiba also said that 'Baudi' being opted by the Zeliangrong people of Senapati with the mandate of the people, it Zeliangrong Baudi, Spt-Zone shall be in the fold of its parent body, Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam Manipur Nagaland) and will work for the welfare of the Zeliangrong community under the guidance of the constitution of ZB (AMN) .

Zeliangrong Baudi is the legal and rightful body of Zeliangrong community of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland recognized by Naga Hoho (apex body of Nagas) and UNC (apex body of Nagas in Manipur), he added.

"We are mature enough to take care of our kitchen affairs to decide our future," he said and added that ZU (AMN) is not recognized officially by Naga Hoho and UNC.
