With students on stir, internal assessment test of MIT cancelled

With the relay hunger strike launched by the students of Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT) demanding removal of its Principal still continues, the internal assessment test which was to be carried out today was cancelled.
The agitating students informed Hueiyen Lanpao that the present Principal of MIT is someone who should never have been appointed to the post at all.
He is a person deeply involved in corruption.
During his term, the administration of MIT has completely for the last nine years.
As such, the students of the institute launched the relay hunger strike since September 13 demanding his removal.
As a part of the agitation, the workshop, library and the teachers block have also been locked.
The Vice Chancellor of Manipur University reportedly came and met the agitating students yesterday.
The VC held talk with a team of nine students but no understanding could be arrived at.
During the course of the meeting, the VC reportedly pointed out that the agitating students were being instigated by the teachers of the institute, to which the students flatly denied and told the VC that the agitation has been launched to remove the unfit Principal.
The agitating students have also appealed to all the student organizations in the State to support their demand in the interest of saving the career of many students.
Meanwhile, Manipur Institute of Technology Teachers' Association has taken strong exception to the charges leveled against them by the VC of instigating the students.
Demanding an explanation in this regard from the authority within September 21, the Association has also warned of taking recourse to intense agitation in case of failure to meet the demand? .
