CCpur, October 18 2020:
At least six tribal bodies from Churachandpur have today jointly appealed to the people of Churachandpur district to shun corrupt practices and ensure that every election hereafter is peaceful, free and fair.
The joint statement signed by six tribal bodies said it is high time the people of Churachandpur exhibit the true spirit of Christianity in any election and listed 7 points for the public to abide with.
Voter must cast their own vote responsibly and not receive bribes in cash or kind; one should not engage in arguments, threats, fights, kidnappings or notorious division that could last for a lifetime.
Candidates must religiously stick to model code of conduct laid down by the Government and they should not use any individual, volunteer or organisation to impersonate others or capture booths.
CSOs, village chiefs, or youth clubs should work to ensure that every election is held in the true spirit of democracy, said the statement that also called on Church elders and Pastors to remind their members about the Dos and Don'ts of election and encourage them to act responsibly.
