School Literacy Mission

Imphal, July 13, 2013:
A School Literacy Mission programme "Eikhoi Punna Eikhoigi Hak Khangminnasi" was organized jointly by Manipur State Legal Services Authority and Mingshel, Canchipur at Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School, Canchipur here today.
The programme was attended by Member Secretary of Manipur State Legal Services Authority, ex-Minister Dr M Nara and Principal of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School P Landhoni as presidium members.
Director of Prosecution Ng Tejkumar, Advocate Ch Momon and Member of CWC (Consumer) W Joykumar spoke as resource persons during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Ng Tejkumar said that men are worst affected by armed conflict and drug abuse in the State.
Thousands of men have been killed and their female counterparts are now suffering.
Crime and violence have an adverse impact on the society, he contended.
Dwelling on the issues of Right to Education and Right to Information, Advocate Momon said that the RTE ensures free education to all children from the age of 6 years to 14 years while the RTI is an effective tool to check corruption and maintain transparency in governance.
Dr Nara stated that the School Literacy Programme taken up by State Legal Services Authority is a step towards imparting legal awareness to students and teachers.
Principal of Standard Robarth P Landhoni appreciated the State Legal Services Authority and Mingshel for organizing the School Literacy Mission at the School.
She further condemned the abduction of two boys from the School, and appealed to all concerned to release the students as soon as possible.
