Rally denounces crimes against humanity

Imphal, July 13, 2013:
Decrying rising crime against humanity, particularly women and children in the State, a mass rally was organized jointly by Conflict Widows' Forum and six other social organizations of the State today.
The rally was taken out from Khurai Lainingthou Awangba Laibung to Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound passing through Khurai Ahongei, Nongmeibung and Konung Mamang.
Prior to the rally, a meeting was held at Khurai Lainingthou Awangba with Member of Northeast Dialogue Forum Rabati Rahman, retired Director of Education (S) Kh Shamungou and former Headmistress of Lainingthou Awangba School as presidium members.
The meeting resolved to submit a seven-point memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, Home Minister Gaikhangam and Governor Gurbachan Jagat demanding repeal of AFSPA, punishment for culprits in crimes against women and resolution of peace talks with underground outfits.
