Imphal, July 13, 2013:
A newly constructed Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) having a seat capacity of 50 students was inaugurated by PK Jha, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati district at E Mulam Village under Saikul Assembly Constituency today.
The inaugural function, which was organised by Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Management Committee, was attended by PK Jha as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, PK Jha stated that Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas have been set up in different parts of the country to impart education to the people.
But for an institute to impart good education to its students, good teachers are required.
So, we need good teachers for bringing about development in the field of education.
Members of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Management Committee, who were present on the occasion, informed media persons that the intake capacity of the institute according to the guidelines of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya is 100 seats.
The guideline is application all over the country.
However, the seat capacity of the newly opened Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at E Mulam is only 50.So, they have pressed the concerned authorities for increasing the seat capacity to 100 as done in other parts of the country.
The members further informed that more than 100 students have already applied for getting admission in the newly set up institute.
Under such a condition it would be very unfortunate for the people of the State if the seat capacity remains stuck to 50 only.
Today's inaugural function was also attended by Dr Thangboi Haokip, ADC Kangpokpi and Th Manihar, SDO Saikul and Bhogendro, official of SSA, Manipur as presidium members.
Meanwhile, MLA of Saikul A/C Yamthong Haokip has exclaimed that the seat capacity of in any Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya should be 100 and it cannot be reduced to 50 as in the case of the one which was inaugurated at E Mulam today.
There would be serious problem in future if the seat capacity is not increased.
