Four CSWs rounded up

At least four women who sell their bodies to earn their livelihoods or Commercial Sex Workers (CSWs) have been rounded up by volunteers of All Manipur Muslim Girl's Students Union and All Manipur Muslim Student's Organisation from Hotel Embassy in Paona Bazaar today.
Addressing media persons in this regard, Rukshar Choudhury, President of All Manipur Muslim Girl's Students Union, stated that the four women included one Muslim, one tribal and two Meeteis.
All four of them are divorcees.
The drive was launched for the first time by the two organizations following reports of such activities going on in Paona Bazaar.
Rukshar Choudhury further stated that the drive would continue and the State Government should look into this matter seriously in the interest of the people.
Among the four women, three of them were picked up from Hotel Embassy and the other from a hotel near Pratap Talkies in Paona Bazaar.
Among the four women, one 22 years old woman who has been divorced by her husband, told media persons that being in this profession she could earn over Rs 1000 per day.
She gets Rs 100 from a single client.
There are around 30 women who are in this profession in Hotel Embassy.
These women do not turn up on regular basis.
"If there are other means to earn our livelihood, we would be glad to leave the profession", she added.
