Imphal, July 13, 2013:
All Manipur Student's Union (AMSU) has put a ban on the functioning of All Manipur Barbers' Association with immediate effect.
Announcing this to media, Thiyam Naresh, President of AMSU, pointed out that there was an understanding between AMSU and All Manipur Barbers' Association that the rate for haircutting will be on the basis of the rate fixed by Labour Commissioner.
Accordingly, it was decided that the rate of haircutting will be Rs 20 and Rs 10 for shaving.
But some of the barbers have found charging more than the fixed rate and they were called up by AMSU for talk.
Instead of complying, All Manipur Barbers' Association staged a sit-in-protest and tried to tarnish the image and reputation of AMSU in front of the public.
As such, AMSU has decided to take up action against the association and banned it for lifetime, Naresh said.
He also informed that Yaima, President of All Manipur Barbers' Association; its Vice President Megha and Sotinkumar, of AITUC, Manipur should come to the office of AMSU within two days for setting the issue.
Romen, Gen Secy, AMSU and Bapu Thakur, Secretary, All Manipur Barbers' Association were also present during the press conference.
