A busy week of rescuing for the grateful PFA

In just about a week, People for Animals (PFA), Thoubal succeeded in rescuing about six wild animals from different parts of the state.
According to Managing Trustee of PFA Thoubal L Biswajeet Meitei, one Eurasian Eagle was rescued from Lairenjam Makha Leikai.
The wing feathers of the bird were found snipped off and some fingers of its claws imputed.
The bird seemed to be hopeless to recover but now it is slowly improving.
It is a migratory bird which spends the winter in India or Africa.
A barn Owl was handed over by one Irom Romichand of Thoubal Khetrileikai on 29th of Nov.
He bought it at Rs .20 from some young boys at Waithou area.
The owl got a minor injury on its wing which could be caused by net string.
After treatment it was released on Saturday.
One baby Elongated Turtle was handed over by one Soibam Abem of Moreh (now staying at Heirok).
She found it at a potato farm.
It got an injury on its shell.
Now it is under treatment at PFA shelter.
Another large eagle known as Steepe Eagle was rescued from Terakhong on 30th of this month.
The magnificent eagle which measures about six feet from tip to tip of its wings was rescued by four friends namely Amom Anand, Amom Dijend, Asem Dhiren and Lourembam Wangooba of the same village.
Interesting thing is that three out of the four were soldiers of 4th IRB, 29 Assam Riffles and 1st Naga Regiments.
They were now on leave.
The bird got injury on its right eye and it is believed to have been hit by a catapult.
They found the bird flightless at Haotak pat.
Moreover, one Mongoose was handed over by one Konjengbam Jenendro, Chairman of Brighter Academy School, Khumbong on Sunday.
The cute animal was found intruding inside the study hall of this school.
Students caught the animal and handed it over over to the Chairman.
It might have wandered out from Yembum Lok.
On the same day itself, one Tawny Owl was also rescued from Thanga Ngaram Leikai by one Khoirakpam Kishan Singh, a student of Advance Public School, Moirang reading in class IX.
All the rescued animals and birds, which are listed under various Schedules of the Wild Life Protection Act, would be released after required treatments and procedures, Bishwajeet informed, while expressing gratitude to the awakening of the public who have started love animals.
