The World AIDS Day was observed at COE, ARTC, RIMS Imphal on Dec 1 under the aegis of Dept of Medicine and COE, ARTC, RIMS with the theme Getting to Zero - HIV & Adolescents.
The programme was attended by Prof M Kulachandra Singh, former HoD, Medicine and Programme Dir, COE ARTC, RIMS as the chief guest while Prof S Bhagyabati Devi, Programme Dir and HOD Medicine presided over the function.
Prof N Nabakishwor Singh, HOD, Obs and Gynae, RIMS was the guest of honour.
Observing two-minute silence in honour of the departed HIV/AIDS patients, releasing the inaugural issue of news capsule of COE, ARTC, RIMS, distribution of prizes to most adherent patients who are on 1st line, Alt 1st Line and 2nd Line ART are the highlights of the programme, according to a statement.
Meanwhile, the Wide Angle Social Development Organisation, Sagolband Moirang Hanuba has organised a painting competition for children at New Keithelmanbi on Dec 1 to mark the World AIDS day with the aim to impart knowledge and understanding on HIV/AIDS.
Around 63 children participated in the competition which was also attended by village chief and volunteers of the village.
The programme culminated with the distribution of prizes to the winners, a statement said.
AMARS and MNP+ Thoubal observed the day at the former's office at Thoubal with M Thaba Devi, general secretary, Kangleipak Women Social Welfare Association, Imphal as the chief guest.
More than 50 HIV positive people attended the observance programme.
N Ranjit Singh, coordinator, GIPA, MACS; H Dipu Singh, vice-president, MNP+ Imphal and P Sanjoy Singh, Project Coordinator AMARS attended the programme as the president and guests of honour respectively.
