Imphal, August 02 2019:
The Police headquarters has reportedly informed the Transport and Drivers Council (TDC) that goods carrying trucks will be allowed to ply along Imphal-Jiribam road when there is no movement of oil tankers escorted by security forces along the route.
It may be mentioned that many goods laden trucks have been left stranded (thus causing immense grievances to the drivers) due to the ban on plying of such vehicles along the highway while oil tankers with escorts are travelling to and fro Imphal and Jiribam.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, TDC president H Ranjit said that a convoy of oil tankers left Imphal for Jiribam today morning.
As the escorts will be stuck at Jiribam tomorrow, the oil tankers too would not move.
Meanwhile, the police headquarters has informed the TDC that all other vehicles, including goods laden vehicles, can travel freely along the road when the oil tankers do not move, he explained.
He then appealed all the goods carrying trucks to travel along the road taking into account the days when there is no movement of escorted oil tankers.
