Imphal, November 22 2018:
The Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation (RNSO) GHQ, Zeme Students' Organisation Manipur (ZSOM) and Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR) have strongly denounced the "culture" of substitution and utilising teachers particularly in Tamenglong, Noney and Senapati district.
The organisations in a joint statement today said that the appointed Government teachers, under SSA, RMSA, teachers of secondary schools and colleges have been practising "substitution system" since many years hampering the environment for quality education.
Many of the teachers are utilised leaving their posts at the schools and colleges in the districts vacant, said the statement.
Urging teachers to come to their respective posting place and attend respective schools and colleges, the student bodies, in a joint meeting today, resolved that no substitution and utilisation system be allowed with effect from the next academic session 2019."Strict actions will be taken up against any employee (teacher) who fails to abide by the said resolution," said the student bodies.
The student bodies also urged the general public and authorities concerned to support the genuine cause in the interest of student community and in particular for general welfare of the State.
Non-fulfilment of their appeal will "invite severe forms of agitation" and the authorities concerned should bear the sole responsibility of the consequences, cautioned the student bodies.
It may be noted that the utilisation of teachers by the authorities concerned of the Government has been under the hammer from many sections/organisations from almost all the districts.
Many civil organisations including several student bodies had in the past said that the utilisation of teachers is adding to the burden of teacher shortage many schools are facing.
