Ready to launch intense agitation if Aided Colleges are not converted into full-fledged Govt College: Teachers' Assn

Agitating teachers of the four aided colleges has expressed thatintense agitations including boycott of upcoming semester examinations, bandh and blockade will be launched if their demand to convert four aided college into full-fledged Govt college is not implementedatthe earliest.
Teachers of the four aided colleges staged a sit-in protest at the gate of Waikhom Mani Girls' College, Thoubal Okram as a part of ongoing agitation speaheaded by "Four Government Aided Colleges Teachers' Association", an apex body of the four aided colleges today.
The agitating teachers lauded the action of the State Govt led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh in coverting 6 aided colleges into full-fledged Govt college after a cabinet meeting held on March 28 .
In the same cabinet meeting, it has also been resolved to convert the other four aided colleges including Waikhom Mani Girls' College Thoubal, S Kulla College Nambol, Moreh College and South East Manipur College Komlathabi into full-fledged Govt college after detail verification of college staff are done, the agitating teachers said and added that the said four colleges are in existence for the last 38/40 years with sufficient infrastructure being built and funded under UGC.
The concerned teachers also questioned the real intention of the State Govt for being delayed in submitting the verification report of the staff of the four aided colleges which was done hurriedly by the Directorate of Higher Education (U) starting from the month of April.
As such, the teachers organised the sit-in protest to expedite process of conversion in the interest of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the four aided colleges, they added.
The stirring teachers also urged the concerned Department of Education (U) to come out with the final report of their detail verification and submit it to the higher authority at the earliest.
While cautioning that they are all set to launch violent agitation against Department of Education (U) if their demands are not met soon, the teachers' association also informed that they will start their agitation by the end of November in view of the appeal made by CM Biren not to call any bandh and blockade during the observance of Sangai Festival.
Placards which read as "Teachers are the nation builders, respect their duty", "Share, implement cabinet decision", "Save the future of students", "We demand immediate conversion of 4 colleges", "Implement one district one women's college" and "Convert 4 colleges under the policy of 'Beti Bachai Beti Badhao'" were used during the protest demonstration today.
