Greeting the people of Manipur and specially the Jain community on the sacred an auspicious occasion of Mahavira Jayanti, Manipur Governor, Gurbachan Jagat and Chief Minister O Ibobi pray that Mahavira Jayanti may usher Manipur into an era of peace, prosperity and harmony.
"Lord Mahavira wished to build a new world order based on equality of mankind transcending caste, creed and religion.
He preached an eternal message of peaceful co-existence of humanity as a whole and showed the path of salvation through love, compassion, forgiveness, benevolence, non-violence and renunciation of materialistic desires," a greeting message of the Governor, Gurbachan Jagat reads.
While celebrating the birth of Lord Mahavira, along with paying obeisance to this apostle of peace and non-violence, the Governor also urges to follow the ideals, principles and eternal values espoused by Him to make the celebration meaningful.
Meanwhile, in his greeting message, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that Lord Mahavira was an apostle of truth and righteousness whose essence of teachings and the panacea of sufferings being love and peace are more relevant today when the world is confronted with strife and tension.
It said that the best way to observe the auspicious occasion is to strive for peace and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.
