Volunteers of Village Defence Force (VDF) who have been recruited recently in the four valley districts would be deployed for election duty for the first time in the upcoming Lok Sabha election which is to be conducted on April 16 and 22 .
However, Police Commandos would not allow to enter within 100 metre periphery of the polling stations.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a reliable source said that the personnel of the VDF which had been recruited in the four valley districts recently with the approval of the Union Home Minister would be deployed along with the armed security personnel for election duty in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
In all 2500 VDF personnel had been recruited in the four valley district.
Meanwhile, Election Commission of India has today given instruction to the Chief Electoral Officer of the State that no State Police Commandos should be deployed within 100 meters periphery of the polling stations on the date of poll of the ensuring Lok Sabha election.
The CEO has accordingly conveyed the instruction of the Election Commission to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) and the DGP for taking up necessary action.
The Lok Sabha election is to be held in two phases in Manipur which has two seats in the Parliament.
The election to the Outer seat is scheduled on April 16 and that of the Inner seat on April 22 .
