Imphal, April 06 2009:
Expressing concern over the prevailing fear psychosis in the Manipur University campus in the wake of the assault on MUSU's President Ksh Narayan and his colleague, the Manipur University Tribal Students' Union (MUTSU) appealed to both the parties involved to resolve all misunderstandings so as to reinstate normal academic activities in the campus.
A press statement jointly signed by MUTSU President Helkhomang Touthang and Secretary, Dinjangam Riamei pointed out that it was not the first time that such act of violence had taken its shape in the campus of MU while asserting that not a single instance of the menace is resolved honourably.
The statement reasoned that the present standoff may trace its root from such inherent animosities while also suggesting for the sitting together of MU family to explore a permanent solution.
It is not beyond doubt that a series of unwanted incidents of the type may erupt anytime if the present impasse is not resolved at the earliest, the MUTSU statement cautions.
