The banned Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has issued a press clarification stating that the three persons arrested by the Manipur Police Commandos and the Assam Rifles on different days from different places have no link whatsoever with the RPF and its army PLA.
Chief, Department of Publicity, RPF, GM Changjou stated that one Salam Priyo (29), son of S Tomchou of Mantripukhri Lamlonggei, said to be a PLA cadre who had been arrested by 29 AR of 26 Sector from a Tata Sumo which came from Moreh towards Imphal at Tengnoupal on April 2 per reports published in the local media on April 3, is not correct.
The man is not a member of RPF and its army PLA, GM Changjou stated.
Another instance wherein the Thoubal police commando claimed to have arrested a woman cadre of the PLA identified as Nandeibam Aruna @Guneshori@Cheche@Abe@CRP@Arunibala (30) daughter of N Nilamani of Kongba Uchekon Chongabi and the one arrested as per the clue provided by her, Akham Manglembi (28) daughter of A Indra from the same locality was also false, the statement said while clarifying that the two were never related to the RPF or its armed wing, PLA.
The statement further said that Nandeibam Aruna @Guneshori was dismissed from the party on August 20, 2005 while also maintaining that Akham Manglembi is an innocent who used to do manual works and engaged in small time businesses.
The statement said that arresting innocents and branding them as militants is the cowardice act of the Manipur police.
Clarifying that Salam Priyo (29), Nandeibam Aruna (30), and Akham Manglembi (28) were not related with the RPF or its armed wing PLA, the statement concluded by conveying that they may be released without any condition.
