All the nomination files of the seven candidates for the Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency for the lone seat to the 15th Lok Sabha were today scrutinized and passed by the Returning Officer, A.Ibocha, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West District at the DC's office, Lamphel in Imphal West.
The seven candidates are Th.Chaoba of Manipur People's Party (MPP) and the consensus candidate of the Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA), sitting Member of Parliament, Dr.Th.Meinya of Congress, former Chief Minister W.Nipamacha of BJP, Dr..MNara of Communist Party of India (CPI), the sole female candidate L.Khetrani of Rashtriya Bahujan Congress Party and two independent candidates A.Rahaman and N.Homendro.
Meanwhile, April 9 has been set as the last date for the Inner Manipur parliamentary candidates to withdraw their nomination papers.
It may be recalled here that the scrutiny for the nine candidates of the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency was held on March 31 with all the candidates being cleared by the Returning Officer concerned, R.K.Dinesh who is also the Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal district.
Meanwhile, official sources said, the election authority takes photographs and video recordings of motor cycle rallies, public meetings, etc.
organised by different political parties and the candidates.
The sources said, the motor cycle rally organised yesterday by the CPI in different places of Imphal East District and video recording of the motor cycle rally organised today by the MPP in different parts of Bishnupur, Imphal East and West District was also taken.
The election office is keeping a close vigil at the spending of the political parties and there candidates on there election campaigns including the motor cycle rallies.
The election office will tally the statement of expenditure submitted by the candidates with the visual recordings taken by the election office.
Expenditure of the vehicles and the expenditure of the fuel will all be part of the election expenditure of the candidates concerned.
Acording to a directive of the Election Commission, prior permission must be obtained from the district magistrates concerned for organising rally or motor cycle rally, etc.
This is to enable the election authority to track the route of the rally so that it can be recorded on video, the sources said.
