Chandel district health mela held at Aimol Khudamphai

Kakching, May 29 2014:
With the objective of providing health care facilities to people in remote areas of the district, the District Health Society, Chandel organized a Health Mela under the sponsorship of National Rural Health Mission at Khodamphai Village under Tengnoupal Sub- Division in Chandel District today.
The Inaugural Function of the Health Mela was attended by Chief of Aimol Tampak Village Ch.
Pasho Aimol, Sub-Divisional Officer of Tengnoupal L.Kiran Kumar and Mission Director of District Health Mission Chandel Dr..NBirchandra Singh as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President respectively.

During the Health Mela, 11 Medical Officers including 2 from RIMS Imphal examined the patients with cases in General Medicine, Paediatrics, Gynae, Ortho, Dental, Surgery and Ayush.
Moreover, facilities of laboratory tests, X-ray, Ultrasound and medicines were also provided free of cost to the patients.
Apart from setting up of 18 Departmental Stores, a Photo Exhibition of the District Health Society was also displayed during the health Mela.
Around 1000 villagers from the surrounding villages availed the health care facilities in the Mela in which services of ASHAs, Staff Nurses, ANMs, ASHA Felicitators and other staff of District Health Society, Chandel were also utilised.
While briefing the media persons, Dr.Birchandra Singh, CMO Chandel, who is also the Mission Director of District Health Society, said that the objective of organising the health mela is to provide health care facilities to people living in remote villages in order to achieve the national goal of Health for All by 2020 .
He also said that our State Manipur and Goa share the top spot in terms of Low Infant Mother Mortality Rate among the States in India which shows the success of National Rural Health Mission scheme in the state.
