JD(U) for capital punishment to drug smuggling cops

Seeking capital punishment for security personnel involved in smuggling of drugs in the state, Janata Dal (United), Manipur state unit has strongly voiced against such activities of the security personnel.
The outburst of the party has come after two more security force personnel were found indulging in drug smuggling incident on November 26 .
Speaking to media at the party office at Babupara here today, President of JD (U) Manipur State Unit M.Tombi said that security force personnel are employed by the state to look out for and protect the people.
"But, instead they opt for the other alternative and indulge in illegal activities such as smuggling and even killing innocent people.
There have been many instances of security personnel importing illegal substances and drugs into the state.
These security personnel should be given exemplary punishment for what they have committed", he maintained.
Meanwhile, Tombi said that the party which has been fighting for the people's cause will join hands with the All Political Party team which is on a mission to solve the Indo-Myanmar border issues hindering the state.
The All Political Party team has taken up various forms of actions to solve the dispute.
As part of their journey, the Janata Dal will go to the national capital, Delhi to discuss the border issues.
The Janata Dal will also send its party representatives along with the team to urge the central leaders to raise the border fencing issues in the winter session of Parliament which starts on December
5 next month.
