Imphal, July 11 2018:
Wahengbam Khelendra, general secretary (administration) Central Working Committee of North East India Development Party (NEIDP) has expressed belief that the alleged errors during the vote counting for Patsoi A/C will be solved at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at the conference hall of Salai Holdings Private Limited at Tera Bazaar today, he claimed that during the 2017 Manipur State Legislative Assembly Election, it was announced that Sapam Kunjakeshwor alias Keba who contested the election as an NEIDP candidate, had won through electronic media and the loudspeakers installed in the DC office complex.
But after sometime, it was again announced that the current MLA of Patsoi A/C won the election, which shocked the people he said and added that the sudden turn of event reeked of corrupt practice.
Khelendra informed that NEIDP lodged an election petition to the High Court and the Supreme Court in April 2017.A press meet was also organised at Press Club of India in connection with the said election petition to show the corrupt practices during the election counting process.
Khelendra lauded the Supreme Court for instructing the authority concerned to look into the matter at the earliest and expedite the process of delivering justice to dispose the pending application.
The order was given on July 4 but the information was received just yesterday, he added.
On the other hand, Sapam Kunjakeshwor (the petitioner of the case) said that the order has boosted the morale of the party as well as those who seek justice.
He further maintained that he believe the Court will deliver justice and added that he would respect any of the Court's orders.
