JBA Chandel imposes various restrictions

Japhou Bazaar Authority (JBA), Chandel district has notified shops and vegetable vendors in Chandel HQ that vehicles transporting essential commodities should mandatorily possess movement permit along with Covid-19 negative test result (24 hours validity) of the drivers before entering the town.
In a notification issued on Friday, JBA Chandel secretary Saka Hopeson stated that vehicles without the said document will not be allowed to enter the town, in view of the prevailing pandemic situation.
In another notification, JBA Chandel informed the general population that amidst the declaration of Japhou Bazaar as containment zone and the enforcement of night curfew to contain the pandemic, they have received complaints of miscreants causing public nuisance in the neighbourhood during odd hours.
As such, to prevent recurrences of such unruly acts, no person will be allowed to consume alcohol or abuse drugs/substanc- es within the jurisdiction of Japhou Bazaar.
It further banned all activities creating noise pollution after 6:30 pm, illegal activities such as gambling, partying in compact residential areas and all indecorous activities after dusk.
In case of violation, musical device/ equipment/instruments will be confiscated and a fine of Rs 2000 or more slapped against the guilty persons.
The JBA also maintained tenants will come under the purview of rules and regulations enforced in the area, and landlord/ landlady should ensure tenants follow the rules.
Flouting of the restriction will attract legal penalty.
No tenant(s) should venture out from their rented rooms after 8 pm, exception for movement for emergency and unavoidable circumstances, it added.
JBA Chandel also stated that landlord/ landlady or proprietor should conduct routine checks on their tenants or lessees for any nefarious activity.
In case of illicit behaviour leading to any untoward incident, the landlord/ landlady or the proprietor will be held accountable.
The above restrictions are an obligation to both residents and non-residents, non-compliance of these restrictions will be liable for legal action.
As a step towards security policy, it is advisable for the home owners to ask for police verification and check the background/credential of the tenants prior to renting out rooms or leasing their residential properties, it further mentioned.
