Jiribam, August 27 2021:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Jiribam District Committee and Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Jiribam and Tamenglong on Friday shut down the ZEO office and administrative blocks of all lower primary and higher secondary schools in the districts after the state government failed to revoke its transfer order of teachers from Jiribam Higher Secondary School and Borobekra Higher Secondary School or to appoint more teachers in their stead.
The students' bodies had earlier announced of resorting to indefinitely shut down the said offices during a press meet held on August 21.Speaking in a press meet held on Friday, MSF Jiribam president Atom Rajiv Meitei explained that amidst the shortage of teachers in Jiribam and Borobekra higher secondary schools, the authorities transferred the remaining teachers away and as such, demands were made to revoke the said transfer order.
However, as the authorities failed to revoke the order, the ZEO office and administrative blocks of the said schools were shut down on Friday tor an indefinite period.
If the government fails to revoke the order within the next two days, more intense agitations will be launched, he cautioned.
Meanwhile, KSO general secretary Pao Minngam Haokip denounced the government for not revoking the order despite warning of shutting down the offices in case of failure.
He then demanded revocation of the transfer order, while cautioning of intensifying the agitation in case of failing to do so.
Any unwanted conse quences resulting from the same will be the responsi bility of the government, he added.
