Blood donation camps held

A blood donation camp was organised at Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) Hospital, Mantripukhri today under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South).
According to a release issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), the event was inaugurated by Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra, IG AR (South).
During the camp, a large number of Assam Rifles personnel voluntarily donated blood, which would help many needy people.
Speaking at the occasion, Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra, IG AR (S) said that blood donation is one of the noblest gestures of humanity which promotes fraternity, unity and brotherhood and also serves to ensure peace, prosperity and progress of the nation.
The latest act of blood donation received an overwhelming and exhilarating response.
This blood donation camp is another step by the Assam Rifles in bol- j stering peace and harmony in the state of Manipur and cre-ates goodwill with the local population, it said.
Meanwhile, troops of Red Shield Division donated blood to District Civil Hospital, Churachandpur on Jan 15 on the occasion of the Army Day.
According to a release issued by the PRO (Defence), Imphal, the initiative from the personnel of the Red Shield Division amplifies the commitment of the Division to the people of Manipur.
Army Day is celebrated on Jan 15 every year to commemorate the historical achievements of Indian Army when Field Marshal KM Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of Indian Army after independence on Jan 15, 1949 .
