Dy CM stresses on role of police and Judiciary

The Police and the Judiciary play an active role in bringing about justice and development in the society, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who also holds the portfolio of Home, has stated, while speaking as Chief Guest of the 52nd Foundation Day celebration of All Manipur Bar Association at Cheirap Court Complex here today.
The Deputy Chief Minister further observed that Legislature, Executive and the Judiciary are the three pillars of a democratic society.
And now, Press has been aptly considered as the fourth pillar.
Since the role of Judiciary as much important as the Police in bringing about justice and development in the society, police personnel need to perform their duties efficiently and sincerely.
He also pointed out the need to improve the condition of the Traffic Police in the State and noted that as of now, the Traffic Control is under the Transport Department.
So, the Chief Minister would be pressed to bring the Traffic Control under the Home Department.
Gaikhangam asserted that in the field of judiciary, Manipur is among the best in the North east in terms of efficiency.
Next to Assam, Manipur has the highest number of well qualified advocates.
The bar and the bench need to come together and develop the Judiciary at its best, he added.
While condemning the bomb blast at Khuyathong which left nine construction workers death, Gaikhangam observed that we need to think over and over again before committing such crimes and remember that a number of Manipuris are also studying outside the State.
Presided over Khaidem Mani, President of AMBA, the celebration was also attended by Th Ibohal, Advocate General of Manipur as Guest of Honour.
