Imphal, August 07 2014:
Seeing no progress from the government's side after the lapse of the deadline given for arresting the culprits involved in the killing of N..SAlice, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) has threatened to launch various vigorous forms of agitation.
A sit-in-protest in this regard was staged by womenfolk of Dewlahland area in front of Tangkhul Baptist Church here today.
Speaking to mediapersons on the sideline of the protest, one A..CRaishing said that N..SAlice, (40), hailing from Happyland, Senapati district and wife of Pebam Ranjit Singh of Khurai Chingangbam Leikai but presently staying at a rented house in Chingmeirong, Imphal was found hanging at New Secretariat building, Mantripukhri on July 29 after she went missing the previous day.

A C.Raishing told that a formal complaint on the death of Alice was lodged by her uncle, N..SNgareishan to the Heingang police station on July 30 but no FIR case has been registered till date.
He also pointed out that injury marks found on the body of the deceased clearly pointed out the death to be a clear case of murder.
He added that the exact cause of the death should be investigated and the culprits involved be pulled up at the earliest and punish them according to the law.
Meanwhile, the JAC has demanded the government's intervention for immediate registration of regular FIR case and to book the culprits involved in the heinous crime so that punishment can be rewarded according to the law of the land.
They have also demanded for providing adequate ex-gratia to the bereaved family of the victim.
Further, the JAC pointed out that the government should properly rule out the place and circumstances of the death body found on July 29 after she went missing the previous day and also establish the story and relationship between the husband and wife as the husband, Pebam Ranjit suspected to be the main culprit nor his family members ever visited and enquired about the death.
The JAC also noted stated that no post mortem reports or other police reports regarding the killing have been established as yet which is very disappointing.
Protesters shouted various slogans holding placards "Protect us from homicide", "Respect our women, our mother", "Alice death is unnatural, government is duty bound to establish the cause", Book the culprit and deliver immediate justice" and "Love us and care for us" .
