Imphal, June 03 2014:
All Government Schools in Imphal East's Andro constituency are constantly progressing in academic performance, although most of the schools in other parts of the State have remained almost fruitless when it comes to imparting education.
New president of Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress (MPTC) and local MLA, Th Shyamkumar visited Moirang Purel High School at Andro to oversee the shortages of the school.
All the 13 students who had appeared in the HLSC exam 2014 from this school easily got through.
Among them, eight passed in the first division and three in the second division.
Nearly 800 students are studying in this school at present.
Under the initiative of MLA Shymakumar, the building of the institution was expanded and facilities for electricity, drinking water and other basic amenities are made available.
Hired teachers are paid monthly honorarium, MLA Shyamkumar said, adding that 50 qualified private teachers are currently being hired for all the Government High Schools in his home constituency.
He said almost Rs 7 lakh is spent a month on paying salaries to these hired tutors.
All the schools are also catering to van service for teachers to ensure punctuality and regular attendance.
