CM calls for strengthening judiciary on AMBA's 63rd Birthday

If the judiciary is strengthened and there is speedy justice, then for obvious reasons, people will have a second thought before committing any crime and subsequently only good things will happen in the society, Chief Minister O Ibobi stated.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of the 63rd Foundation Day celebration of All Manipur Bar Association (AMBA) at Cheirap Court complex, Uripok here today.
Ibobi said that the three entities namely legislature, judiciary and executive are three pillars of a democratic country and there will be stability in a democratic society when these three entities function accordingly.

The role of judiciary is of paramount importance.
Quick deliverance of justice which is much required in the society can be obtained if the judiciary is strengthened and its position consolidated, the CM observed.
Assuring that the State government will give due attention to upgradation of District & Session Courts and appointment of required staffs, the Chief Minister disclosed that a committee will be formed to ensure welfare fund of advocates in the State budget head for which an amount of Rs 20 lakh will be sanctioned.
The Chief Minister further disclosed that a plan has been set to construct a meeting hall inside the Cheirap Court complex.
Deputy Chief Ministe Gaikhangam, who attended the function as guest of honour, emphasised the need for proper interpretation of the established law by all legal professionals to ensure strict maintenance of legal ethics, morals and values.
He also appealed to all AMBA members to work as a guiding force and lead the society in a new direction.
Presiding over the function, Advocate Khaidem Mani, president of AMBA, said that AMBA which started functioning from 1952 now has 2000 members including some who are yet to practice and expressed his desire for availing pension benefits to retired advocates.
Apart from offering floral tributes to the photos of late advocates, gifts were also presented to retired lawyers during the function.
